School Games Sports Hall Athletics Competition 2025

One of our biggest and noisiest events!

Long Itchington finished in an impressive 4th place in the morning session at Ryton Sports Connexion Centre on Wednesday. Our Year 5/6 team competed in a variety of track and field events against 15 other schools from the Central Warwickshire area. Over the course of the day over 1000 children were involved in the event.

The team got to experience an amazing competitive environment , sprinting, rolling, jumping hurdles, use of kick boards whilst performing in the relays. The field events were javelin, chest push, standing long jump, standing triple jump, vertical jump and speed bounce.

Highlights for us were the girls chest push smashing it and getting the highest score, boys javelin taking 2nd , boys Obstacle taking the win πŸ₯‡
Special mention to Rosie S who had the overall highest score in the Chest Push, Edith who took a nasty tumble in the 6 lap paarlauf ,showed fantastic resilience and determination to complete the race and also go on to compete in the speed bounce, and for sheer entertainment, Jensen who in the under and over , instead of diving through, was able to just dip his head and sprint through the tunnel!

After the results from the afternoon session were submitted, we unfortunately slipped down to 8th place but as this was out of 21 teams, I think we did pretty well ! In fact our number one supporter of the day, Mrs Richard’s, was very impressed and said how much she enjoyed seeing so many of our pupils being able to be involved in representing us, in an out of school activity.
They all displayed the school games values including teamwork, honesty, respect, determination, passion and self belief. Most importantly, they had fun and did themselves and the school very proud! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ͺπŸƒπŸ½‍β™€οΈπŸƒπŸΌ‍♂️
