Class spotlight - Mrs Richards
Our final class spotlight is on Kingfisher class. They are an amazing group of children who love learning! At the end of the first week of term they went to St Paul's school in Leamington Spa to celebrate 'The Day of the African Child'. Long Itchington are now linked with BDEC Njai Town school in Sierra Leone. During the day they took part in dance lessons, African drumming, sports and singing. They had a wonderful time and were as always ready, respectful and safe.
They have been learning about how some countries in Africa lack foundation skills such as basic writing, reading and maths. This is because of emergencies such as climate change, poverty, natural disasters, drought and famine. The class wrote letters to our local MP Matt Western to reiterate the importance of education to all children worldwide especially children in Africa.
The children in Kingfisher class are a delightful group - kind and compassionate, so this was a perfect learning opportunity for them.
Well done Kingfisher class!
