Our amazing, talented children gave their absolute best on Tuesday competing in the Central Warwickshire Athletics Finals, representing the Southam Area along other children who qualified from Bishops Itchington, Southam St James, St Lawrence’s, St Mary’s and Harbury. They not only battled against the other area teams, Kenilworth, Warwick, Leamington North & Mid & Leamington South but with the sweltering heat 🥵. The 5 area teams are made up of 53 primary schools. So to qualify for this is already a massive achievement but to then get in the top 3 is just incredible.
Fin Y6 blew us away with an outstanding performance in the 600m. He ran a very tactical race to take the win. 🥇
Annabelle Y4 was thrown into a new race for the competition, the mixed Y3/4 relay. She teamed up with 2 children from Bishops & 1 from St James who had not met each other before, but it was clearly a well matched team. She gave them a brilliant start for them to move the baton around the track with ease to cruise into first place 🥇
The Y4 boys relay team were just pipped on the line, just missing out on 2nd place but they ran brilliantly and were chuffed that they beat last years result. They are growing in strength and great to see them progress.
Maly Y5 took the 3rd place in the Triple jump. Not an easy discipline to master but one we seem to be getting right, as we also had Fin & Isla Y6 qualifying and just missing out on top 3.
Well done also to Erin Y6 for her javelin performance, Carter Y3 & Annabelle Y4 long jump, Harriet & Noah both Y5 running 75m & finally finishing the competition was the mixed Y5/6 relay which had a last minute switch due to injury, Isla, Maly, Noah & Fin.
