School Sport

Sport is an important part of school life at Long Itchington. It helps to raise children’s self-esteem, develop a sense of worth and raise the importance of being part of a team. The discipline demanded of the children in sport impacts on the good behaviour that is evident within the classroom and throughout school.

Sport Premium Funding is money that the Government has provided to schools to improve the quality of Sport and PE in schools. Since the introduction of the Sport Premium Funding there has been effective use of quality sports coaches for one PE lesson a week for each class which also enhances and develops staff.

All children do PE lessons as part of the curriculum and this helps the children to keep active. We work hard on ensuring that children do 30 minutes physical activity during the day and, as part of this, we also do Maths of the Day, where children are combining problem solving in maths with team work and exercise.

Well-Being Ambassadors

As a school we have also been involved in the Well-Being Ambassadors Programme for the past 5 years.  This program teaches children leadership, communication and the importance of teamwork.  The children involved in this program have then been able to bring what they have learnt into school and run events such as Cup Stacking, YouSkip challenges and Fits-A-Knockout personal challenge event.
